When Are The Best Times To Eat?
Have you ever wondered - when should we eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner? As much as we have the freedom to schedule our own mealtimes, eating at certain time periods will benefit us. Here’s why.
Breakfast

You’ve probably heard before that breakfast is the most important time of the day. And it’s true! Breakfast is your first meal after a whole night of not eating, hence the ideal time to eat will be between 6am to 10am. Any further delay might cause you to experience gastric problems as there’s no food to digest. It also gives you a few hours of break to digest your food before your next meal. What you eat first thing in the morning determines your blood sugar for the rest of the day - so don’t start off your day with snacks - or you might feel tired easily!

For lunch, eat between 10am to 2pm, where your metabolism is at its peak. It is encouraged to eat a lighter meal than breakfast and dinner, so you won’t feel so sleepy afterwards. Consume a snack instead if you feel hungry afterwards!
Dinner

Dinner should be around 5pm or 6pm, the last few hours before your metabolism starts to decrease. The time between your last meal and your bedtime should be as long as possible, so that your body can digest your food well before you sleep. If you have to eat a late dinner, once again eat snacks beforehand and then limit your portion during dinner.

Having an optimal eating schedule can help us to lead a healthier lifestyle but remember - consistency is key. Only when you are consistent, your body will know when to expect meals and digestion will therefore be more efficient.
