Why We Worry And What To Do About It?
I am constantly worried. My weight, my career and about the current Covid-19 situation especially. There are so much matters to worry about, but what can we do about it? Humans are complicated, right?

Do you know that our actions are classified under 2 situations?
- Immediate-Return Environment
- Delayed-Return Environment

1) Imagine that you are a giraffe. You will walk over to munch on a tree when you are hungry and run away when you see a lion stalking you. You will get immediate benefits from the actions you carried out. You live in what scientists identify as, the Immediate-return environment.

2) Okay, back to reality, you are a human and like me, we mostly make decisions that will only reap rewards after. Say if you closed a big deal with a client today, you'll get your paycheck a few weeks later. If you save $5 everyday, you get a better retirement years later. This is what researchers identify as, the Delayed-return environment.
Many of the matters humans worry about are problems of the future. So, what can we do to help us worry less?

#1 Measure Something
This action will make the unknown become known. When you measure something, you become more aware of what you are doing. It won't solve your problems, but it will help you have a clearer picture and clarify the uncertainties that you have.
For example, you can't be sure if you will get hired by the end of the year, but you can measure how many companies you have sent your resume to or how many interviews you have been to. Your hard work will pay off ultimately.

#2 Shift Your Worry
Shift the worry that you have for this particular matter to something that you can work on daily and can ultimately help you solve your worry in the long run. Make sure that your new daily routine will reward you immediately as well as solving your problems in the future.
For example, instead of worrying about hitting your goal for your weight by the end of the year, try focusing on cooking or getting yourself a well-balanced healthy dinner today! In this way, you get to have a healthy and delicious dinner as well as get another step closer to your goal!
I know that Covid-19 is probably the worst start to the year 2020, and many of us are badly affected, but since there is nothing else we can do, let us work hard to better ourselves and not be defeated by the virus emotionally.
You have won half the battle against the virus if you stop it from getting to you emotionally.
