Makan Mate

I ordered for 3+1 dish with soup but came only prawn noodles + dumplings. Very average noodles abit oily

Grilled Oriental Emperor Chicken was ok, the Crispy Stuffed Dough Fritters have very little fillings you can only taste the dough.

I asked for less salt on my food but I did not expect the Eefu Noodles to be so blend after they cut down on salt.

Also no one wants to have the longan desert as it is absolutely unappealing at all. Broccoli also a bit too tough.

Staff who delivered the food do not know how to setup the buffet so food were left at my house untouched for nearly an hour which I feared that it may turn bad.

Kids commented the fried rice is too bland. Fish fillet is nice. The full setup is nice, except for the chilled Cheng Tng area is drenched with condensation.

Food was delivered on time. Did a check and realise the serving ladles were not given. Delivery guy tried to help but main office cant do anything about it. Apologies accepted though i felt they could have done more to rectify it.
Food wise is average. Sambal squid was hard and in such big pcs..a lot of my guests had difficulty in biting it. Thus it was the most unpopular food item, almost half left over. For the portion wise, sufficient for 17 adults and 6 kids though i ordered for 15pax.

The "chicken rendang" is delicious and spicy too. Besides that, the "sambal fish(vegetarian)", "curry vegetables", "archar" and "naan" are not bad too.

BUT the "ice chendol" is tasteless and the worst is the "Icy Fruit Punch".The taste of the "Icy Fruit Punch" is not bad but until we found SOME SMALL PIECES in BLACK COLOUR inside the drink!! So we decided to open the container and found out the container inside is very dirty. There are a lot of BLACK UNKNOWN THING. Even though you cover the container but we still can see that there are a lot of scratch.

Please provide a CLEAN container to the customer.

Besides that, the service is good before the event BUT please be honest and punctual next time. Before the event said that can collect the food early but after that cannot due to very busy and ask me wait for my collection time. BUT you still haven't collect it after an hour of my collection time and not info me at all. It is really not responsible.

Overall OK but not worth the value. Portion is small, dishes are common nothing special/related to festival. Especially the chestnut pudding 6' for 30pax order?

Kampong Fried Rice and Curry were good! Chicken Ngoh Hiang with Sweet Sauce,Sze Chuan Fish Fillet and Honey Peach with Sea Coconut were a disappointment.

Took several emails and phone calls to finally confirm the reservation (staff mispelled my surname, typed in wrong address and sent me someone else's contract and invoice etc.)
Delivery guy called just before he reached the venue. All dishes are wrapped in food wrap and covered in plastic containers. Disposable wares and garbage bag provided.
- The portions were too little to serve 10 pax and there were less than 10 pax around actually. Good thing I prepared additional soup and some of us had to eat less.
- The broccoli was very hard and raw.
- The fried rice was said to be "not nice" by a guest.
- The longan dessert was so ridiculously sweet that all the guests avoided taking it after one sip. Someone even commented that taking it would give you diabetes. We tried adding a lot of ice and water but it was still way too sweet.
- Yu sheng was the right portion size for 10pax
- Additional order of "sea scallop in yam balls" ($29.96 W/GST) was a let-down. There were exactly 10 yam balls. The dish looked dull, tasted bland and oily and was expensive.
- transport cost at $50 (excluding GST) was too much compared to other caterers

Quite disappointed with the food. The Thai Pineapple Fried Rice was tasteless and the rice were not fresh, can smell the unfresh rice smell, I hope it won't cause food poisoning to my guest who took it. At the end of the event, there was 95% of the fried rice left over. Vegetable Curry Samosa wasn't nice and the skin was soft. I have requested the caterer to ensure the food is fresh when I place order but still end up with unfresh food.

The fried Bee Hoon, curry chicken and breaded fish fillet were better. The rest was ok except pineapple fried rice and curry samosa.

We booked the function room till 5pm, thus have informed the caterer to collect at 4.30pm but the service crew only arrived to collect after 5pm.

Thought Makan Mate received good feedback from others thus want to give them a try but overall experience with Makan Mate is bad.
