Makan Mate

Delivery was on-time. Ordered Nyonya Chap Chye but they delivered Curry Vegetables instead. Delivery person said that the item is Nyonya Chap Chye, but it's obviously Curry Vegetables. I know what Nyonya Chap Chye does NOT look like curry.

Overall food taste was OK. Steamed Prawn Gyoza skin tore apart when served. Best item in the menu was the Mini Chocolate Eclair.

Portions run small, so order exact pax or in excess if you have hungry guests.

The caterer arrived on time, but set up too slow. Crowds started to pour in at 12pm but food is not ready. Hence no time to warm up the food and some items are pretty cold.

Overall service is ok but portion of certain foods are too little, e.g. Yam Paste and fried rice.

The spread and food was quite nice. My guests enjoyed the food very much.

Apart from the Spicy Chicken Baked Rice, we liked the Carbonara Pasta, Cream of Carrot Soup, Caesar Salad and Baked Fish. Some of our guests commented that the food was yummy and even asked for Makan Mate's name cards which unfortunately, were not provided.

The menu was heavy on carbohydrates and it would have been great if the caterer becomes more flexible with the selection of food choices in future - allowing guests to choose from a list of food.

Our main dissatisfaction with this caterer stems from the fact that their food came late and our guests had to wait around for their setup to be ready - instead of arriving at the agreed time of 2.30 pm to setup for our event (due to begin at 3 pm), the delivery person arrived at about 2.50 pm.

The food is great at a affordable price. But the ice lemon tea taste like a cough medicine.

The Braised Beancurd with Enoki Mushrooms & Conpoy could have more Enoki Mushrooms. Not much mushrooms and color are very dark.

The halal logo and the timing to finish the hi tea was in B5 size paper , too small. Malay residents could not see them, suggest to have them in A4 size paper. Basically, everyone liked the dishes except the barley drink, too sourish.
