"Poor service: most embarrassing hosting experience ever"

One of my guests found a MAGGOT in the dry laksa (uploaded photos). Informed the caterer but they insisted it's dried shrimp... As if none of us can tell the difference between dried shrimp and a maggot... To be fair, the caterer did refund the cost ... More of this dish, but the way it was handled left a bad taste in my mouth.

The biggest problem with the service is that I requested 6pm ready time as a number of my guests are young parents and needed to leave before 7pm. On the day of my event, I checked with their staff what time the driver will arrive, and the reply was '5.30-6pm'. I was very surprised as I thought the driver should be arriving earlier to set everything up! I had wrongly assumed that the 30-40 minutes buffer time is for contingency purposes, like traffic jam or accident. But nope, it includes an overly packed schedule as well. The dumbest thing is that the staff argued that 6pm ready time means the driver reaches by 6pm. FYI, the Cambridge English Dictionary defines 'ready' as 'prepared and waiting'. I don't think it's unfair for me to assume that 'ready time' means that the food is ready to be served and eaten...

The driver finally arrived at 5.50pm, but clearly the setting up is not a one-man job. At 6.25pm, he was far from done so my guests had to step in and help so that they can eat... Imagine how embarrassing it is for a host to have this situation...

I have to admit the food were mostly delicious (maggot aside) and generously portioned. But with this horrible experience, I am never ordering from this caterer again.
