Kim's Kitchen was chosen because of generally good reviews, but I'm sorry to say the first meal itself was already disappointing, and the food provided has not improved since. The soup we got on the first day was an immediate letdown as it was ... More basically chicken powdered flavouring dissolved in water although it was supposed to be pumpkin pork rib soup. When I called to enquire about the next day's Lo Song soup, the staff could not explain what it was to me. When I got it, it appeared to be just corn soup, but it smelled and tasted exactly like the first one. I immediately changed my order to 4 dishes to eliminate the soup henceforth.

The main dishes were slightly better and more edible. However, even though I requested for no bones in fish, I got lots of bones in the fish dish on 8 Aug. Also, the giant meatballs were chock full of fat and the smell and taste were nauseating and were totally rejected by my children. When I changed the order to four dishes for 10 Aug, I did not expect that the three dishes other than soup would not be the same as stated in the menu. Instead of eight treasure duck delight, seaweed cube special and mixed spinach delight, I got a tough chicken/duck dish (it was so tough we couldn't really tell - not a delight), a firm beancurd dish (no seaweed in sight) and a vege dish that was mostly cheap cabbage. The fourth dish was over-fried seaweed chicken fried in overused oil, it seems.

In general, the food is too salty, and the stir-fried vegetables are too oily and taste too much of peanut oil, the portions for 4 are sometimes a little too measly (e.g. only 10 small chicken drumlets, plus indivisible by four so why not just add 2 more?), and most of the time, the chicken/duck/fish dishes are overcooked, resulting in tough meat (the fried mackeral on 8 Aug was so tough our jaws ached from chewing on it). That's a lot of cons from just three dinners. In general, people expect tiffin dinners to be one level up from an economy rice stall meal but of course, not as great as true home-cooked food. However, the dinners so far make us feel like we're eating at the food court every night. Worst of all, the children complain endlessly.

I hope that Kim's Kitchen will improve on its food immediately after this review as discerning customers will steer clear otherwise. Thanks.
