7 Foods That Can Be Kept in The Fridge for A Long Time

7 Foods That Can Be Kept in The Fridge for A Long Time

In times of uncertainties like these, we understand that it can be tough to plan your grocery shopping list. Don’t worry, we have got your back because this week I’m bringing you 7 foods that can be kept in the fridge for a long time so you don’t need to panic buy, but rather be prepared so you will have enough food for the next few weeks.

Hard Cheese

Hard cheese like parmesan cheese can actually last up to 4 months unopened in the fridge! If opened, they can be stored in the fridge for 3-6 weeks.

Bread

Can’t finish your loaf in time? When stored in the freezer, sliced bread can last up to 3 months. However, do remember to thaw them before consuming!

Hot Dogs

Upon purchasing, hot dogs stored in the freezer can last for about 2 weeks past their best before date. However once opened, they can last for 1 week and if cooked, for another week.

With the above 3 ingredients plus ketchup, you’re all set to make hot dog pizza bread, a great meal for a light lunch or for a snack!

Eggs

Fresh, raw eggs if stored in the fridge can last about 3-5 weeks!

Olives & Pickles

Olives and pickles are essentially preserved, so the lifespan will naturally be longer. When stored in the fridge, opened olives can last 4-6 months and are usually safe to eat up to 3 months past their expiry date. Opened pickles, however, can last up to 1-2 years in the fridge!

Celery, Broccoli & Lettuce

Wrap them in aluminum foil and store them in the fridge. This ensures they stay fresh and crispy for 2-3 weeks!

Apples

When you leave fresh apples on the counter, they usually last for about a week. However, apples stored in the fridge can last up to 6 weeks! A tip for you though, if you notice them being soft, wrinkled or oozing liquid, throw them away because this could be a sign of toxic mold.

With all these ingredients that can be stored in the fridge/freezer for a long time, I’m sure you’re now able to plan ahead and buy only what you need. We understand that not everyone gets the opportunity to make a trip down the supermarket, so why not consider getting your daily meals delivered from FoodLine?
