What To Do For CNY In 2022 Singapore
With 2021 coming and going, it's time to head into the new year! Christmas is over and we all know that it's time for Chinese New Year! The covid-19 situation has probably got you feeling down, but fret not! Here is a list of what you can do for Chinese New Year in 2022!
1. Go Shopping at Chinatown
I'm pretty sure all of you are familiar with this classic activity. Chinatown has always been decorated beautifully around the Chinese New Year period in Singapore with bright and pretty lights, colourful lanterns, and much more. We recommend you go shopping along the streets for an authentic experience and take a look at what the vendors have to offer. These busy streets encapsulate all the sights and sounds that we would expect of Chinatown during the Chinese New Year period!
2. Witness the Chingay Parade
If you didn't know, the meaning of the name ‘Chingay’ comes from its Hokkien dialect equivalent, which means ‘The Art of Costume and Masquerade’. You can witness this beautiful parade filled with colourful performances, fabulous costumes, and dazzling lights. The details of the event isn't announced yet but we know that it will be held sometime in February. You can watch the broadcast of the event on television too!
3. Visit the Gardens By The Bay
The team behind Gardens by The Bay has always pulled out all the stops when it comes to Chinese New Year! For 2022, you can visit the Flower Dome from 14 Jan to 20 Feb and witness their Dahlia Dreams exhibition. This year, they are featuring three Chinese moon gates, a pair of rabbits and larger-than-life narcissus blooms, all set amidst about 2,000 showstopper dahlias and vibrant azaleas, chrysanthemums and cymbidiums. It's the perfect spot for a date!
4. Have a Scrumptious Reunion Dinner with Family
Of course, Chinese New Year isn't complete without a nice, hearty, and delicious meal with your family. I'm pretty sure most of us are looking forward to spend time with family and enjoy a reunion dinner together with them. Of course, FoodLine's your best friend when it comes to food!
