Your Perfect Bento Option Is Ace Bistro and Bar - Bento Review
Hey! Here I am back with another review but this time round, it is BENTO SET from Ace
Bistro and Bar!!

You must be thinking what are some perks of Bento and why should I order Bento?

Well, Ace Bistro and Bar is a collaboration with BJ Grill Seafood originated from Old Airport Road hawker, serving you the best of both local and Korean cuisines along with some booze.
Think stingray, seafood kimchi stew, and beers on taps!
To serve you better and easier, they have their bento set so that you can enjoy without having to clean up after that.
Below will be my review for their different sets AND trust me, it is worth the read!
1. Korean pork belly
First up, Korean Pork Belly, when the word Korean and the word Pork Belly comes together, you aleady know its gonna be a great combination.
Pork belly is a three layered meat, where you get the different layers of flavours.
Just from the first look, you can tell the pork belly is super well marinated and on top of that, it is fresh.
2. Duck
Next up, the duck dish, I am a big fan of duck and this dish continues to prove my point of loving the taste of duck. Duck on it self is rather salty but not to worry, it is well-paired with rice.
Also, in the bento set itself, there is vegetables like Cucumber, Carrot and of course Kimchi.
Ducks that are not fresh, can be quite hard to chew but this one is super well marinated and cooked to perfection.
3. Stingray
As for third bento set, we have Stingray also known as Spicy Banana Leaf Stingray. This is a rather popular dish and I am a huge fan of Stingray!
The sauce portion given for the fish is just sufficient and great to consume it with rice. On top of the Stingray, there's some lady finger, onion and corrainder which will add so so much fragrance and flavours when consumed together.
Don't forget to squeeze the lime over it before indulging in it.
4. Lala
And for our fourth dish, LaLa, a very popular dish in Singapore which is more on the spicy and tangy side. This dish is actually finger-licking good and really, every mouth makes you yearn for more, couldn't get enough of it. Also, LaLa that are not cleaned thoroughly tend to have sand bites which throws me off. However, Ace Bistro and Bar continues to live up to their standard because there was 0 sand bite texture and the Lala is fresh and juicy.
5. Chicken Bulgogi
For this dish, Chicken Bulgogi, I would say it has its own unique savory flavour and it is a must-try. This taste should definitely be familiar for you if you are a fan of KBBQ, because of the savoury taste, I think it is an excellent choice to have it with you rice, very well incorporated together. All in all, it is intensly flavourful and the chicken is super tender and juicy.
6. Sotong
Moving on to our 6th dish, Sotong might look plain on its own, but it actually has a ROBUST flavour. Personally I do not consume Sotong because of the rubbery texture which I personally do not enjoy. However, this sotong is rather chewy so you dont have to worry about thebite texture is like. The sauce is very well incorporated into the flesh of the Sotong and as someone who isn't a Sotong fan, I love this set.
7. Prawn
As for third dish, PRAWN! Prawn is an iconic ingerdient that is super versatile and goes well in lot of cooking methods, from frying, brewing soup to steaming.
Just from the colour of the prawn, you could tell that the prawn is fresh and it isn't overcooked.
Whether a prawn is overcooked a not, you can determine it with the peeling process of the prawn.
Prawns that are not fresh tend to the flesh of the prawn, making it tedious to peel.
There is a also a generous serving of prawn, definitely sufficient given the ratio of rice given.
8. Pork Bulgogi
Down to our second last dish, Pork Bulgogi, if I were to compare Pork or Chicken Bulgogi, I will definitely opt for Pork because Pork is usually comes with less meaty taste and it is more tender as compared to chicken which needs an extra few minutes of cooking. The sauce used is the same as Chicken Bulgogi, it is perfectly seasoned which makes this dish close toirresistable.
It feels as though you are getting a hint of every aspect of taste from spicy to savoury, insanely mouthwatering.
9. Saba
As for the last dish of this whole set, we have Saba, also known as Grilled Mackerel, this is actually one of my favourite dish out of the rest!
On a personal level, I enjoy Grilled Mackerel a lot because it is relatively inexpensive and for the price you pay, you get a balanced nutrient out of it.
I love the skin flavour, when you marinate the fish, thats where the flavourful will be retained while the fish locks the moisture so that even after pan frying, the fish is still super soft and fresh.
Imagine this being your LUNCH after a long morning, it will definitely power you up for the rest of the day!
And with that, that's my review for these Bento Sets and ALL I CAN SAY IS, for the price that you are paying, it is definitely worth every penny of it.
The portion is generous, the food is good, the standard is off the bar.
