Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge CNY Menu Set C Review
CNY Menu Set C
With Chinese New Year happening just a month after Christmas, I'm pretty sure we'll still be in the festive mood once Chinese New Year approaches and we're going to be too lazy to cook for the event. Now you don't need to worry with Buey Tahan Seafood by Shi Fu Ge delivering homey tze char and seafood dishes! They even have festive menus this year for the upcoming Chinese New Year so you can still be reeling in the festive season without needing to cook!

发财鱼生 Prosperity Yu Sheng “Huat Zai Yu Sheng”
One amazing thing about Buey Tahan Seafood’s Yu Sheng is that it’s 100% vegetarian! At first glance, the mock salmon was done so well I couldn’t even differentiate it and thought that the salmon was real! The taste did not disappoint me at all, as the texture of the mock salmon was extremely similar to the real salmon, my brain was confused for a moment. Of course, as they are made from flour, the taste wasn’t similar at all, but it was a really good attempt, nonetheless. The Yu Sheng wasn’t overly sweet as well and was definitely better than most of the diabetic-inducing Yu Shengs out there.

帝国带 Imperial Pot “Money Come Come Bag”
This was technically their classic Crab in Da Bag, and if you’ve read our previous Buey Tahan Seafood review, you’d probably read about this before, but I wouldn’t mind reiterating because it was definitely a delight to have it again! Their signature Crab in Da Bag comes with their special crab sauce- a combination of chilli crab and black pepper sauce! This unique sauce combination was delectable, satisfying and was a great accompaniment to the various seafood included. A great number of ingredients was included as well (XL-sized crab, prawns, clams, mussels, corn and potato) and could easily feed a family of 8-10 pax!

干贝蟹肉翅 Crabmeat Scallop w Shark Fin/Fish Maw “Kiap More $ Soup”
Calling all soup lovers, this dish is a must-try! The soup was sweet and with the right amount of thickness. Buey Tahan Seafood was really generous with the number of ingredients in the soup as well and they provided an elevated texture which was very enjoyable for me!

港蒸红斑 Hongkong Steamed Red Grouper “Got Head Got Tail”
When I first opened the container, I’ve got to admit that I was a little overwhelmed with the smell of the fish, however the moment I tasted the fish I immediately did a double-take. To my amazement, the fish did not taste fishy at all but rather was very fresh! I usually steer clear of steamed fish, but the meat was so soft and tender I had to have a second serving. To have the perfect experience, dip the meat in the gravy and top it with a tiny piece of coriander.

脆皮烧肉 Crispy Roast Chicken “Golden Rooster”
Let me just say that the Crispy Roast Chicken was glorious. To be honest, the roasted chicken looked ordinary but upon my first bite, the meat had the perfect combination of tenderness, juiciness and it was so savoury! This was definitely one of my favourites from Buey Tahan Seafood so far. However, I was a little disappointed with the cracker as due to the heat in the container, the cracker was a little too soggy for my liking.

特色双味下 Twin Flavour Prawns “Eat & Smile Like Prawn”
What an interesting combination! I was quite impressed at Buey Tahan Seafood’s creativity when I first saw this dish, as it consisted of two flavours of prawns- cereal prawn and salted egg prawn. The prawns were enjoyable as well, and I really liked the salted egg prawn as the flavour was strong and creamy. The cereal, however, was a little soft, probably due to the heat trapped in the container when the dish was being delivered. Nonetheless, this dish will definitely satisfy as it allows you to have the best of both worlds!

双宝扒西兰花 Double Mushroom w Vegetable “Double Happiness”
This was another of my personal favourite as the scallop was fresh and bouncy but soft and was easy to chew. The gravy also complemented the vegetables and mushroom well as the consistency was balanced and surprisingly quite flavoursome!

蟹肉银鱼仔炒香饭 Crab & Silver Fish Fried Rice “Win Win Fried Rice”
I’ve done a review on Buey Tahan Seafood’s Silverfish Fried Rice before, and boy, this dish really did not disappoint! You can find their Silverfish Fried Rice on their normal menu, but for the Chinese New Year edition, a special ingredient was added- real crab meat! Once again, they did not skimp on the number of ingredients but were rather generous with the crab meat. Everyone who had fried rice was able to have their fair share of crab meat and silverfish. The fried rice was fragrant, flavourful and was really yummy especially when consumed warm!

云游飘雪 Desserts “Sweet Sweet Loving Loving”
The white fungus with longan dessert was very refreshing and it was a perfect way to end the meal. The syrup was light and wasn’t cloying at all and I thought that it balanced the natural sweetness of the longan well!
Overall: 5/5
It was definitely a pleasure having to review Buey Tahan Seafood’s CNY menu this time, and as I compared it with my review last month, I can safely say that their standard is consistent and remarkable. Buey Tahan Seafood is perfect for intimate family gatherings this Chinese New Year as their tze char dishes felt homey and warm.
