A growing trend in the world of cakes, the money pulling cake has gained popularity over the last few months because of its surprise factor! This is a cake that will put a wide grin on anyone’s face no matter young or old, and serve as a fun memory to look back on. When I heard that CAKEINSPIRATION was sending us one of their money pulling cakes to try out, I was ecstatic to say the least!

We received this gorgeous pink ombre cake, drenched in luscious-looking gold layers that screams wealth. Topped off with an iconic fondant Donald Trump dollar bill, some mahjong tiles and chocolate coins, this cake already made me smile! There were also little golden chocolate balls of different sizes scattered around atop the cake as well, which looked like gold pearls. The pink and golden hues of this cake is certainly eye-catching – especially with the added decorative details.

CAKEINSPIRATION’s money pulling cake series allows you to choose from 6 different combinations of cake and fillings – either vanilla or chocolate sponge cake, with either strawberry, blueberry or chocolate fillings. Our cake was the combination of vanilla sponge cake and strawberry filling, which is one of my favourite combinations although it is simple. The vanilla sponge cake was fluffy and light; accompanied with a smooth spread of fresh strawberry buttercream between the cake layers. I really enjoyed this cake as it was lightly flavoured and not overly-sweet, thus not surfeiting as well!

I feel like this is a cake you can surprise your Grandparents with, especially if they don’t eat much cake since the money pulling box takes up quite a bit of space. However, the excitement of pulling out bills of cash (or fake notes if you prefer) will surely be something they’ll remember! 😊

The part that everyone’s been waiting for – actually pulling out the money from the top of the cake! With a little tug, we managed to pull it out with the fondant Donald Trump dollar bill! The “money” was secured in thin plastic and taped to each other in a line, and then rolled to be put into the cake. I felt like a kid on Christmas day seeing the money come out of a pretty cake, so satisfying!
