How To Keep Your Spectacles From Fogging Up While Wearing a Mask!

This might come a bit late, but since it seems like we have to put on our masks for the next foreseeable months, I think this would come in handy for many of us bespectacled people!

I understand that constant struggle, and how troublesome it is. In fact, I have seen many who just let their mask hang below the nose just to avoid fogging up their glasses. And yep, that’s not good.

So, let me share with you some of the tips that I personally use to keep my spectacles from fogging up!

#1 Get the right fit

You need a mask that sits securely over your nose. It is best recommended that you use a mask with a nose bridge wire as it will reduce the chances of warm air exiting up to your spectacles. Make sure you push and shape the metal strip on your mask to the shape of your nose.

#2 Use your glasses to seal the top of your mask

Try to pull your mask higher on your nose and use the nose pad on your spectacle to seal it and shape it to your face. Now your mask is securely fitted and the warm air will not be able to escape through the gap and fog your glasses!

#3 Tape It

Ok ignore the scotch tape in the picture. Try to use something that is more skin friendly such as sports tape. But well, this method is normally used when you really do not have other choices. Similar to the idea behind tip 1 and 2, it is to avoid the warm air from escaping through the top to fog your glasses.

#4 Soap and Water

Do not do this if your glasses have special coating on it or ask your optician before doing so. With this technique, simply wash your spectacle in soapy water and shake of excess liquid. Either leave it to air dry or gently wipe them off. A thin layer of film left behind by the soap acts as a fog barrier!
