How To Treat Mosquito Bites

How To Treat Mosquito Bites

Have you been getting mosquito bites lately? With an increasing number of dengue cases, we should be extra careful!

I understand the urge to scratch your bites but doing that will  only take longer for your mosquito bites to heal. Usually, mosquito bites will heal on its own in a few days but if you scratch it, the spot will get redder and even more itchy.

Below are some important tips to educate you on how to properly treat mosquito bites!

  • Trim Your Fingernails

Yes, fingernails. Did you know that dirt and grime lives under your fingernails? Which means when you scratch or even touch your mosquito bites, you are making your bites worse by passing more germs to your bites. Therefore, it is important to cut your nails shorter and trimming it clean to reduce the risk of spreading the germs under your nails to your skin.

  • Apply a cold compress

You can grab a towel and put some ice cubes in it and rest it on your mosquito bites for about 5 - 10 minutes.  By doing this, it will help to numb your bites and reduce your urge to scratch your bites.

  • Apply Aloe Vera

If you do not want to apply cold compress, then you might want to apply aloe vera gel instead. Aloe Vera gel does wonders, it is proven that aloe vera gel has anti-inflammatory properties and help to calm infections. You can purchase this gel at supermarkets or any convenience store.

With that, I hope these 3 tips will help you to ease your mosquito bites! Do take care and do not leave any spot at your house for mosquito to breed!

Till then, take care and stay extra safe!
