Prosperity Yusheng

Would you just take a look at that cute pig face! I love how Shi Fu Ge created a twist on this dish by crafting a face using the ingredients instead of switching up the ingredients like how a lot of other restaurants do! This retains the traditional flavour of the Yusheng yet switching things up in another way! Vegetarian salmon slices are used in this dish so almost everyone with different dietary needs can get to enjoy this dish! With just the right amount of sauces provided, the Yusheng wasn’t too sweet and was very refreshing to have as a starter!
Crab Meat w/ Shark Fin

A delicacy at banquets, most people enjoy the Shark Fin soup. Shi Fu Ge was really generous with the chunks of crab meat in the soup, and is comparable to the soups you get at restaurants. It was a really hearty soup that I enjoyed a lot. You can add some pepper or vinegar to adjust the taste to your liking! Also, if you're not a fan of Shark Fin, you can switch this out for Fish Maw instead which we know would taste equally good!
Imperial Pot (Spicy Flavour)

It’s a seafood party in a bag! Loaded with prawns, mussels, clams and also 2 large crabs, seafood lovers will certainly love this dish. The sauce tastes similar to what you would get with a chilli crab dish except, it is less eggy and has more of a spicy kick to it. The sauce is so addictive that you can’s stop licking them off your fingers! Every "crack" of the crabs and seafood has fully absorbed the sauce, allowing you to taste the maximum amount of flavour in a bite. Not a fan of spicy food? Fret not as there are 3 different sauces to choose from! The other 2 flavours are the non-spicy flavour and salted egg flavour! Check out a previous review we did about the salted egg flavour here!
Hong Kong Steamed Red Grouper

The fish we had was sooo fresh! It does not smell or taste fishy, and the flesh has a slight "bounce" to it. The soy-based sauce that was drizzled on the fish really enhances the fresh flavour of the fish, along with the ginger slices.
Twin-Flavour Prawns (Salted Egg & Cereal)

I got pretty excited when I heard about this dish. It consists of two of my favourite flavours, all in one box! I immediately knew that this would be good when I opened the container, because the aromatic scent of the curry leaves and garlicky smell made me salivate. The next determining factor of being a good dish was the prawns itself! I wasn’t let down when I took the first bite. The prawns were fresh and juicy, coated with just the right amount of batter for the perfect taste. The shell was fried till crispy but soft so you can eat the prawn whole! Both flavours were totally delicious!
Brased Duck w/ Sea Cucumber

The braised duck was really yummy! I loved how the meat was fall-off-the-bone-tender, and the sauce was absorbed into every cut of the meat. The sea cucumber makes for a nice soft jelly-like texture, that you can pair with the duck, just yummy! You can also taste a hint of the herbs from the sauce but it is not overly strong. The sauce was quite viscous but makes for a wonderful texture when paired with the duck meat.
Abalone Slices w/ Veggies

This dish was really appetizing! Slightly chewy abalone slices were braised in oyster sauce along with mushrooms. Considering the fact that abalone on its own is kind of bland, I felt that the usage of mushrooms here really enhances the overall flavour of this dish. The veggies were also not overcooked and still retained the crunchiness which was a perfect match with the yummy sauce.
Hong Kong style Cantonese Sausage Rice

Don’t be deceived by the looks of the rice. Trust me, this really tasted much better than it looked. You really have to try it for yourself. This whole dish had so many layers of flavours. The Chinese sausages used here really added a nice umami touch to the rice, elevating the whole dish. There was also a liberal amount of pork floss sprinkled on the top, which also added flavour and texture to this dish! One scoop of rice was usually good for every one of us but many of us went for seconds this time!
Braised Abalone

This dish was prepared in the similar way as the Abalone Slices w/ Veggies I talked about above. The main difference here lies in the fact that whole abalones are used in this dish. The abalones were soft, slightly chewy and juicy. You can still taste the original taste of abalone despite them being drenched in the sauce. They were very generous with the abalones, which were actually decently big in size. Definitely, an “atas” dish if you ask me!
Dessert

This dessert was delicious and refreshing at the same time! You could really taste that the sweetness that came from the natural sugars of the dried fruits used, and not from artificial sweeteners. Also, the wolfberries and all the other mixture of dried fruits here also have amazing health benefits. So I definitely recommend all of you to try this dessert out!
Overall, we were once again impressed with the dishes from Shi Fu Ge. We would definitely recommend you try them this Chinese New Year! They might be a little more pricey as compared to other more wallet-friendly caterers but hey, we think that this is a pretty good deal considering the quality of seafood and premium food items you will be getting!
