Should You Keep Your Social Circle Small?

Should You Keep Your Social Circle Small?

Yes, 'Should You Keep Your Social Circle Small' is definitely a constant society question and a constant doubt for many of us.

I always wondered why is it that when we were much younger, everyone seems to be friends with each other but as we grow up over the years, more friendship problems will occur and many will no longer befriend each other.

I recall the days when my mother will always remind me to be extra careful when making friends because you won't know whether they are fake friends or not.

To be honest, we are all living in the time when "bigger is better", a prevailing assumption when it comes to anything. With the constant thought that, by having more friends, there will be more connections which will lead to greater opportunities.

However, by having lots of friends, it means you have to make time for them and you have to balance between work, family and big group of friends. Instead, you should have a smaller inner circle, probably like 5 friends that you know you can fall back on in time of need. Also, choose these 5 friends wisely because they will be your super close friends that can profoundly influence you in decision-making.

With a smaller group of friends, you will definitely forge a deeper and more authentic kind of relationships because these people are genuinely important to you.

So, there is no definite answer to this question but personally, I see more Pros in having a smaller social circle compared to having a massive group of friends.

Till then, take care and stay safe!
