Hock Hoe Heng Catering

By far, my worst experience catering through Foodline.

Nobody contacted me to confirm the order and we only managed to call and get a respond that the food is arriving 15min before the event started.

The packaging and display needed improvement. The food did not look appealing for the price paid per pax.

The yusheng was terrible!!! I ordered an extra portion and both were missing the sliced abalones. The oil used for the yusheng tasted very bad, which ruined the entire tray of yusheng when mixed. I had so much complaints from the guests during the event.

Food came 1 hour before stated event time, which is good. Ordered for 10 pax. ~$210 with delivery. Was looking for a non-halal caterer to deliver for smaller pax event. Guests were quite satisfied with the food overall. Food generally not salted that much and likely not much shortcuts used (MSG/Chicken Powder), which is a good thing for us. Will consider ordering again in the future.

Food wise:
Yang Chow Fried Rice 扬州炒饭 - Decent for me. No wok hei. Not very well seasoned (not salty). Tastes like a home-cooked fried rice. The blander profile is actually a good thing as the other dishes can complement it.
Pan Fried Sambal Prawns 干煎辣虾 - Flavourful. Prawns not the freshest but acceptable.
Teohchew Crispy Prawn Roll 潮州虾枣 - Mini ngoh hiang balls with sweet sauce. I liked this a lot and found myself drizzling the sweet sauce on other things also.
Cereal Fish Fillet 麦片鱼片 - Decent. Not a lot of fish meat (more batter than fish).
Pandan Leaf Chicken 香兰鸡 - Very good. I honestly didn't know what pandan chicken is. About 1 inch cube of chicken thigh/leg with lots of spices/sambal. Tastes like satay. Chicken was very succulent.
Hakka Pork Ribs with Yam 芋头排骨 foodline - Decent. This dish is also not heavily seasoned. Meat is not falling off bone but also not tough.

Food was above my expectations. Will patronise again. Will also introduce to friends and family. Food was on time and warm as well

Guest loved the Curry Chicken! Although the caterer did not give extra but the item is wiped out by all my 15 guest.

The otah doesnt taste like otah at all. It taste like fake meat.
Curry is disappointing too. Overall, the food are not nice.
Don think will re-order from them again.

The food is below expected. Aside from curry chicken, the rest is not great. However the customer service and delivery timing is on time so worth to try other dishes!

Worst ever buffet. Food was horrible and low standard. Thought of trying different vendor this year but regret greatly. Rice and vermicelli was almost tasteless, asparagus was hard (not fresh), the rest of dish was either too saltish or likewise poor flavoring. All my guest had negative feedback. Not even a single dish to compliment or appreciate.

The spicy fragrant sambal fried groupe was nice, brocolli with mush room was nice too, yam paste also not bad, not too sweet, overall food taste are meet the expectation.

Ordered quantity of 20 pax for birthday celebration but the food seems very little for 20 pax. Also, some of the food was cold. Generally, the food tastes okay. For the price, I would say it’s around average.

Food arrived on time and served warm. Disposable plates, forks and spoon provided.Crispy prawn rolls are delicious, the mixed veggies can be better. Overall good value.
