Makan Mate

The Prosperous Fatt Choy and mushrooms was the best dish. My guests also liked the Ee Fu noodles. However amount seems to be little as I had ordered for 35 pax.

Pretty good service, had decors for our set up too. food was not bad too.

Generally we like the food of Makan Mate, especially the fried seafood beehoon was delicious.

Took several emails and phone calls to finally confirm the reservation (staff mispelled my surname, typed in wrong address and sent me someone else's contract and invoice etc.)
Delivery guy called just before he reached the venue. All dishes are wrapped in food wrap and covered in plastic containers. Disposable wares and garbage bag provided.
- The portions were too little to serve 10 pax and there were less than 10 pax around actually. Good thing I prepared additional soup and some of us had to eat less.
- The broccoli was very hard and raw.
- The fried rice was said to be "not nice" by a guest.
- The longan dessert was so ridiculously sweet that all the guests avoided taking it after one sip. Someone even commented that taking it would give you diabetes. We tried adding a lot of ice and water but it was still way too sweet.
- Yu sheng was the right portion size for 10pax
- Additional order of "sea scallop in yam balls" ($29.96 W/GST) was a let-down. There were exactly 10 yam balls. The dish looked dull, tasted bland and oily and was expensive.
- transport cost at $50 (excluding GST) was too much compared to other caterers

Basically the food was good except for the mini soon kueh, the skin was too thick.

Good experience with Makan Mate

Flexible enough to allow changing to items that are outside of package. We changed the Asam Pedas Fish to Sweet and Sour Fish instead as we have children guests. The Sweet Sour Fish is too sweet. Curry Chicken is my most favourite dish. It is a must and it compliment very well with the Bee Hoon. Many of my guests like the Kampong Fried Rice Istimewa. Overall not bad.

Very good coordination for the event arrangement, friendly and helpful staff.
Setup guy is very patient, he was there early to setup but unfortunately he needs to wait for a while as the class was still going.
Table was very nicely setup on time.
Food are nice overall, portions was good enough, chicken wings were gone 1st, very popular.
Really less oil and salt, healthy choice.
