The Thai Pineapple Fried Rice was tasteless and the rice were not fresh, can smell the unfresh rice smell, I hope it won't cause food poisoning to my guest who took it. At the end of the event, there was 95% of the ... More fried rice left over. Vegetable Curry Samosa wasn't nice and the skin was soft. I have requested the caterer to ensure the food is fresh when I place order but still end up with unfresh food. The fried Bee Hoon, curry chicken and breaded fish fillet were better. The rest was ok except pineapple fried rice and curry samosa. We booked the function room till 5pm, thus have informed the caterer to collect at 4.30pm but the service crew only arrived to collect after 5pm. Thought Makan Mate received good feedback from others thus want to give them a try but overall experience with Makan Mate is bad. Reviewed on 25th Jan 2016 Verified Purchase Even though the catering staff arrived much earlier than the expected 5pm arrival time, the food still remained warm and fresh until collection. So we are alright with it. We had 23 adults plus 2 kids and our order for 23 pax had more than enough ... More portions for all. The guests were singing praises for the food especially the Stir Fried Bee hoon, which was soft and moist and flavourful to their liking. The Curry Chicken was fragrant and rich in taste and the chicken pieces tender. The Taufu Goreng with the sweet black sauce dip were simply an addictive combination. The Cheng Tng was filled with many ingredients and is refreshing and not overly sweet. The dishes that were somewhat average included Assorted Mushrooms with Broccoli as a few find the Broccoli and the sliced carrots a bit too hard, and the Pineapple Rice was not soft enough and rather dry. Overall, great value for the dishes and the staff(both delivery and collection) were friendly and helpful. A few of the guests have asked me for the caterer's contact. Thumbs up!
