Overall decent quality with competitive pricing

Reviewed on 1st Jan 2025 Verified Purchase

The smoked duck was the best disk among all that guests praised about . The Yam Paste with Ginkgo dessert was not too sweet and guests finished it all up. However , the seafood fried rice was so bland and tasteless and we suspected that any salt was ... More omitted. The rest of the dishes were average . Comparing to the previous times I ordered , Braised Pork with Pau quality dropped . The prawn with ginger got too much seasoning. Ovan Baked Drumlets were left behind by the guests the most because they were too hard to chew.
But overall given the price of the menu , it still served the purpose and value for money .

Food portion has shrunk

Reviewed on 1st Feb 2023 Verified Purchase

In the past , I have ordered multiple occasions from Xin Yi Pin and my guests were always well fed with even left over . But this time , though I ordered 30 pax portion for 27 pax of guests (including three children within that 27 pax), food was ... More gone after even one round of serving. My guests had to look for snacks and other things to eat in my house to fill up their stomachs. When I ordered 30 pax , I expected food portion should be enough and I didn’t prepare extra food in the event of shortage . I was caught off guard and had to scramble some frozen food from my fridge to cook for my guests . I know inflation has been up in singapore , but Xin Yi Pin should increase menu price without sacrificing on the portion , so that customers won’t be caught off guard on first day of CNY for insufficient food , on a day which is difficult to da bai or order delivery last minute !!! V disappointing.

Good quality of food at great value

Reviewed on 26th Dec 2022 Verified Purchase

The menu’s variety and ingredients quality offers great value at very reasonable price vs other caterers. The setup service is prompt and on time as well. But after the dinner , we all felt very thirsty . So there could be MSG used.

Good value and nice menu for CNY. However the kailan is not fresh . The rest of the dishes are good.

Platable but not among the best catering quality

Reviewed on 28th Feb 2018 Verified Purchase

Dishes my guests like:
- Crispy Yam Roll: although it’s not crispy anymore but it’s still v tasty
- Stir Fried Sweet and Sour Fish: another decent fish that’s popular

Dishes that disappointed:
- The assorted vegetables with mushrooms ... More dish tasted sour and was shunned by my guests.
- The Golden Torpedo Prawn was soggy and not crispy at all.
- Sautéed Spaghetti with Capsium tasted like Malay noodles
- Foo Yong Egg also tasted soggy and watery
