How to Celebrate Mother’s Day During Circuit Breaker
Let’s be honest, with all the chaos about the Covid-19 news and the current Circuit Breaker situation we’re in now, who actually remembers that Mother’s Day is approaching? No need to raise your hands because, admittedly, I’m with you. This year’s Mother’s Day is definitely special because with the closures of restaurants we’re all stuck at home, but who says that we can’t have fun in our homes? This week, I’m bringing you a few tips on how to appreciate your mothers during this special day, whether or not you’re living with your mother, there is something you can do!
Breakfast in Bed

Ah, a classic. I’m a believer that food is the way to literally everyone’s hearts so try getting up early and whip up something delicious for your mother! Can’t cook? Let me give you a tip: American breakfast is one of the simplest things to prepare and we’ve also recently done a quick article on some Gordan Ramsay-inspired scrambled eggs!

If you mother does most of the household chores, then this is a great time to show her you care by giving her a break and taking over! As a filial child, you should be helping your mother out more often if circumstances allow, but if not, why not give this a try and of course…don’t mess things up!
Write Her a Card

Honest talk, when was the last time we gave our mothers a handwritten or a hand-drawn card to honor her? I’m not sure about you, but I enjoy receiving handwritten cards from people, and I'm sure your mother would too. Cards are especially useful if you’re not good at expressing yourself verbally and even if you’re not good with words, drawing is one way you can get your message across.
If you aren’t living with your mother, send her a snail mail! Who doesn’t love surprises?

Words of Affirmation

Actions may speak louder than words, but words do have power. There’s nothing better to let your mother know you appreciate her than being vocal about it. I know, being Asian mums, you’ll probably get a weird stare from her in return but trust me, she’ll love it.
If you aren’t in the same household as her, give her a surprise call, catch up with her and chat with her! I’m sure it will brighten up her day.
It’s easy to focus too much on current news especially during this Covid-19 season, but let’s all take a break, spread positivity, and look forward to doing something to thank our mothers for being here with us!
